Dianne de Las Casas

Dianne de Las Casas is an author and award-winning storyteller who tours internationally. She is Founder of an international initiative designating November as Picture Book Month. De Las Casas is a Filipina-American, born in the Philippines, on January 15, 1970. As a child, she lived in the Philippines, Hawaii, Spain and traveled across Europe and the United States. Her father was in the United States Navy. She resides in the New Orleans, Louisiana area with her husband and eleven-year-old daughter, Kid Chef Eliana, who is a professional kid chef and published cookbook author. Her twenty-one-year-old daughter, Soleil, is an art student at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

De Las Casas is a Southern Artistry Artist, Louisiana State Roster Artist, a Louisiana Touring Directory Artist, and a Mississippi Arts Education Demonstration Roster Artist. She is the author of many children's books including The Cajun Cornbread Boy (Pelican Publishing Co.; 2009), Madame Poulet and Monsieur Roach (Pelican Publishing Co.; 2009), Mama's Bayou (Pelican Publishing.; 2010), The Gigantic Sweet Potato (Pelican Publishing Co.; 2010), There's a Dragon in the Library (Pelican Publishing Co.; 2011); The House That Witchy Built (Pelican Publishing Co.; 2011), Blue Frog: The Legend of Chocolate (Pelican Publishing Co.; 2011); and Dinosaur Mardi Gras (Pelican Publishing Co.; 2012).

Her children's audio CDs, Jambalaya ~ Stories with Louisiana Flavor; World Fiesta: Celebrations in Story and Song; and Jump, Jiggle & Jam ~ A Rhythmic Romp Through Story Land have received numerous awards and reviews in national publications in the United States.
